As well as 343 Industries with the disastrous launch of Master Chief Collection. Ubisoft released nothing but incomplete games last year, including blockbuster hits like Assassin’s Creed Unity and Watch_Dogs. Personally, while some of EA’s practices to me are wrong, they really are no different from many other AAA game companies.

An example of one of the many wonderful glitches Assassin’s Creed Unity had to offer. This free offering to fans could show that EA plans to win back the hearts of skeptical fans, or bribe the naysayers. One ray of hope is the release of the ‘Battle of Jakku” DLC, which will add two maps showcasing the battle that laid waste to the planet we see in the newest The Force Awakens trailer. But this begs the question, how much content is being pulled back to be sold later? It’s a question we may never know the answer to, as cut-to-sell content is rarely discussed. Developer’s have stated that at launch, each planet will include more than two maps. Other issues fans had were with the abysmal amount of planets at launch, merely four Tatooine, Hoth, Endor, and Sullust. Though they were great additions to the game, they were not introduced until the second game, a trend I believe will follow with DICE’s incarnation. No space battles, clone wars, galactic conquest or even instant action modes, all of which are central to the Battlefront formula excluding space battles. With Star Wars Celebration having just ended, fans were left confused and angered by some of the announcements regarding DICE’s re imagining of the classic franchise. Fans of the series, including myself, are extremely excited for what a DICE headed addition to the series could bring as well as worried that EA’s old ways could come creeping back to take advantage of such a hyped release. The first of which is the much-anticipated Star Wars Battlefront. EA has exclusive rights to the console market regarding Star Wars games. Now, with the merger of LucasFilm and Disney, a deal was struck.

Speeder Bikes confirmed in the newest trailer. And, as we all know, history tends to repeat itself. Many fans have backed off EA, switching to targets such as Ubisoft(which may very well deserve it, taking recent releases into light) while other fans still remain cautious, knowing that some goodwill on EA’s part won’t erase the past. Between releasing unfinished, buggy games or splitting game communities with absurd amounts of DLC(an example of which would be Battlefield Premium) they have won worst company of the year twice.īut, they have been trying to get back into the fan’s good graces with their free monthly games on Origin and their fantastic customer support. Any gamer who hasn’t been living under a rock these last few years, knows that EA has been getting a bad rap lately.
